David I. Trail, 84 of Wall passed away Wednesday Nov. 5 at Meridian Sub-Acute and Rehabilitation Care Center , Wall.  

David was born in Sea Girt and was a lifelong resident of Wall Township .  He was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard stationed on the USS General Gordon.  David was a mechanic for New Jersey Natural Gas for 36 years retiring in 1989.  Upon his retirement he and his wife Ethel loved to go camping in a RV.  They then became Florida snowbirds while maintaining their primary residence in Wall.  David loved to tend to his garden, growing flowers and vegetables.  David and his wife enjoyed canning the vegetables.  He was a member of the Belmar VFW Post 2620.

David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ethel Kelty Trail, a son David and his wife DiAnne of Hamilton, NJ and their three children Christopher, Ryan and Robert.  He is also survived by a brother Robert Trail of Brick and a sister Marie Pohero of Rahway ; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeanette Mary Knudson, 83 of Brick passed away Wednesday at Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital , Browns Mill.  

Jeannette was a homemaker, and an avid reader. She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as spending time with them.  Jeannette was born and raised in Harrison and moved to Brick 22 years ago.  While in Harrison, Jeanette and her husband were involved with the Spirit of 76 Democratic Club in East Newark .

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William T. Knudson in 1994, triplet daughters who died at birth in 1948,two brothers Edward and Bernard “Steve” Komoniewski and two nephews Steve and Thomas Komoniewski.  Jeanette is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bill and Judith Knudson of Brielle and Ken Knudson of Brick.  She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph and Ann Komoniewski of Pompano Beach, Fl and Henry and Dolores Komoniewski of Belford NJ; a sister Alice Komoniewski of Harrison, NJ; a granddaughter Noel; three great grandchildren Jayde, Ariana and Jonas;two nieces Sharon and Linda Komoniewski;two nephews Joseph and Steven Komoniewski; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ann” Honey” Petruzzi, 77 of Brick in Lion’s Head North passed away Wednesday at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune with her family by her side.  

Ann was born and raised in Newark .  Ann was raised by her Aunt Irene, because her mother died when she was very young.  Ann was a teacher’s aide at the Lafayette Street School , Newark for over 25 years.  Ann was involved with many activities at the Lion’s Head North Clubhouse.  She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, read, trips to Atlantic City , and was an avid Bingo player.

Ann was predeceased by her parents Michael and Ann Ardito, five brothers Joe, Frank, Dan, Alfred and Louis Ardito and her Aunt Irene Cenar.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years Charles Petruzzi of Brick, two daughters and sons-in-law Lois and Jerry Pagano of Randolph and Donna and Tom Scanlon of Howell.  Ann is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Sam and Norma Ardito of Cherry Hill and a sister Cecelia Manna of Florida , a grandson Thomas, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Maria “Nonna” Storzieri, 74 of Neptune passed away Monday, November 3rd. at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.  

Maria was born and raised in Italy.  She came to the United States in 1964.  Maria and her family first lived in North Carolina and then moved to Neptune, New Jersey in 1965.  Maria was a seamstress and worked on bridal dresses for Elegant Alternative for many years before the company out of the area.  She loved to work in the garden, and also to play bingo.  Maria also loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren Amanda and Tiffany.  Maria accepted everyone as they were and treated them as her own.  That is why she was affectionately known as “Nonna” to everyone.

Maria is survived by her husband of 49 years Michael Storzieri of Neptune, a daughter Sandy Bailoni of Neptune and her children Amanda and Tiffany and a son Anthony “Tony” Storzieri of Lambertville, NJ.  She is also survived by a sister Pina Bevilacqua of Italy, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert H. Bossett, 87, of Brielle, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, October 31. 

He was born in Irvington.  He summered at the shore and eventually moved to Spring Lake, where his father owned The Village Barn, now known as Doolan’s. He graduated from Manasquan High School where he excelled in football and baseball.  His junior year, MHS won its first Shore Conference Championship in baseball.  He was a captain on both teams his senior year and in football played in the first All Star Football game matching Group II players against Group I players. During his summers, he worked at Kingies Pavilion in Manasquan, first renting rafts and then as a lifeguard. He was on the beach in Sea Girt when several lifeboats from the Morro Castle landed there. He attended Clemson and Indiana Universities and graduated from Purdue University as part of the V12 program of WWII. He met his sweetheart of over 60 years, “Janie”, there.  At Purdue, he played half back on their last unbeaten football team when they finished ranked 5th in the nation. He was offered a tryout by the Cleveland Rams. He was a Marine Corp veteran, serving in an anti-aircraft battalion on the Islands of Guam, Johnston and Pelilu.  After the war, he became an educator and coach. In his first coaching position at Pennsauken High School, his basketball team won the South Jersey Freshman Championship.  He particularly enjoyed teaching in the Lakehurst school system as it allowed him to pursue his love of history at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. He also taught and coached at Sayreville and Roselle High Schools. At Roselle, he coached Roosevelt Grier, a future star player with the New York Giants.  He eventually finished his career in Matawan as an Industrial Arts teacher of woodworking.  He enjoyed working on wooden boat projects and making wooden toys for his grandchildren. He was a member of the Spring Lake American Legion and a life member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club. He took great pride in winning many events in his sailboat, “Bodacious”, often with a young crew of his grandchildren and friends aboard. His hobbies also included fishing and pursuing his passion for local history and lore. 

Robert was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Ellen, and his beloved wife, Jane, in August. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Patricia and Robert Summers of Brielle, and Henry and Margaret Bossett of Sea Girt; four beloved grandchildren, Frank Helies Jr. and his wife Kellen, of South Carolina, Nathan Bossett, of San Francisco, Evan Bossett and his wife Amy, of Howell,  Julia Gargano and her husband Michael of Connecticut; his cherished great grandson Daniel Bossett, four nieces, one nephew and his devoted caregiver, Tami. 

Friends and relatives may gather at 6pm, Tuesday for visitation followed at 8pm by a Catholic memorial service at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan.

Karin Devine, age 44 of Jackson passed away on Thursday October 23 at Kimble Medical Center in Lakewood.  

Karin was born in Annsbach, Germany and formerly lived in Eatontown before moving to Jackson. Karin enjoyed spending time with her three children, loved music and was a former flag twirler at Monmouth Regional  H.S.

Karin leaves behind three beloved children, Sean, Colleen and Allison and their father John Devine all of Brielle. She is survived by her parents Theodore and Hilde Erickson of Beaver, West Virginia, two brothers Ronald of Ocean Township, Raymond and his wife Antoinette of Beaver, West Virginia, and many Devine family relatives from Red Bank.

Gladys G. Birkenhauer, of Spring Lake Heights , and Stuart , FL died September 22 with family at her side at Jersey Shore University Medical Center , Neptune after a short illness.  

Gladys was a graduate of Columbia High School , South Orange and graduated from a business school.  She was a treasurer for Carteret Savings and Loan before becoming a homemaker and mother.  Galdys, her husband Edwin, her brother Richard Caspar and her son Edward owned Matawan Lumber for many years.  She was a member of the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club and the Spring Lake Golf Club. 

Gladys was born in Newark , NJ and was raised in South Orange .  She loved the beach and summered with her parents and nine brothers and sisters in Avon , NJ spending much time with her family at the Belmar Fishing Club.  Bud and Gladys have lived in Kansas City , Missouri , Baltimore , Maryland , Marysville , Ohio and York Pennsylvania and spent the last twenty-five years in the NJ shore area.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edwin G. Birkenhauer, Jr. and her son and daughter-in-law Edward and Candace Birkenhauer of Brielle, a daughter and son-in-law, Regine and Pat Dallosta of Lothian, MD and Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Kristen Birkenhauer and her fiancé Matt Cooper of Charlotte, NC, Derek Birkenhauer of Hoboken, NJ, Amanda Birkenhauer of Brielle and Matt Dallosta of Lothian, MD.

Betsey P. Lassen, 76, of Tinton Falls , passed away unexpectedly Sunday September 21, 2008, at her residence.  

Betsey was born in Bridgeport , CT and raised in Redding , CT.   She was heavily involved in the local 4H program in her early years, winning many ribbons showing sheep and cows, while helping out on the family farm.  She graduated from Danbury High School in Danbury , CT.   Upon graduation, she attended the University of Connecticut in Storrs , CT and graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio , Texas with a Bachelor Science degree in Social Work.  While at UCONN, she met and ultimately married Edward J. Lassen in 1953.  They were happily married for 54 years before Edward passed away on September 12, 2007.  Due to the nature of Edward’s job, Betsey and her family lived in 8 different cities across the United States .

Betsey enjoyed helping people, working initially as a social worker in San Antonio .  She finished her career helping people find homes as a real estate agent with Hunneman & Company in Hingham , MA .  Betsey was a smart, easy going and caring person who was passionate about her family and friends and her hobbies.  She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, needlepoint, gardening and her dogs.  Betsey truly loved her husband Edward, their family, their friends and the times they spent in their lakeside cabin in Maine .

Betsey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Lassen of Sudbury , MA ; her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Mark Swan of Wall Township , NJ ; five grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander of Sudbury, MA and Christopher, Megan and Matthew of Wall Township, NJ; and a brother and sister-in-law, John and Gwen Platt of Escondido , CA .  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jean M. Oberto of Spring Lake Heights , NJ , died peacefully in her sleep August 30, 2008 among her family and friends.  Mrs. Oberto was 83 years old.

A long time shore resident, Mrs. Oberto was the daughter of Thomas and Alice McLaughlin of  New Rochell, NY.  She was a graduate of Georgetown Visitation in Washington , DC .  Retiring from the Deal (NJ) Police Department in 1988, she was active in a variety of local activities and services in the area.  Mrs. Oberto was an inaugural member of the Spring Lake Heights Little League and it’s Auxiliary.

Married to Elmer J. Oberto of Collinsville , Illinois in 1948, they moved to Spring Lake Heights in 1953.  The couple was members of St. Catharine’s Parish in Spring Lake .  She was a long time fan of the New York Giants Football Club.  Jean was interested in her Irish roots, returning to the palce of her father’s birth, Longford , Ireland .  That return gave her a sense of pride and satisfaction which lasted the rest of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer in 1971.  Surviving are her sister, Alice of California, three sons, Eugene of Stockholm, Sweden, Peter of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Kevin and daughter in law, Susan of Spring Lake Heights, and three grandchildren, Devin, Matthew and Kelly.

Arrangements were under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road , Manasquan.  There was a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake and interment was at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.

Jean M. Rathjens, age 61 of Sea Girt passed away Friday at her home.  

Jean was a lifelong resident of the shore area, born in Spring Lake Heights and moved to Sea Girt in 1969.  Jean was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt.  She was a comptroller for over 35 years for various companies in the shore area and an accountant for Bayshore Recycling, Keasbey , NJ for the last two years.  Jean was an avid golfer, loved to collect clocks, read and travel. She traveled to many exotic places like Egypt , Alaska , Hawaii , a few Scandinavian countries and a Windjammer cruise in Maine.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Alfred J. and Elizabeth ”Betty” Rathjens.  She is survived by three brothers and three sisters-in-law Alfred Rathjens and his wife Susan of Phillipsburg, NJ, Bob Rathjens and his wife Elizabeth of Oakhurst, NJ and Richard Rathjens and his wife Leah of Ohio.  Jean is also survived by 1 niece Rachael Rathjens and 5 nephews Allen Rathjens, Gregory Rathjens, Robert Rathjens, JR Rathjens and Jimmy Rathjens.

John Kowalcyk, 52, of Hudson , Florida , formerly of Belmar , New Jersey , passed away suddenly at his home after a brief illness on August 21, 2008 .  

He was born in Springfield , Massachusetts and moved to New Jersey when he was 15 years old.  Those lucky enough to have met him would describe him as a loving and caring person, who put others’ needs before his own.  John served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era.  He was an avid runner, completing both the Boston and New York Marathons.  John also loved working on cars, and was passionate about his Oldsmobile 442.  He owned and operated his own pool service company, Rumson Pool and Spa, and also worked in construction. 

Surviving are his loving son John the III, Maryann Krug, devoted friend and mother of John the III, his sister Maryann Strum of Monson, Massachusetts, his brother Peter and sister-in-law Mary both of Neptune, New Jersey, as well as nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his father John in 1970, his mother Jessie in 1997, and his brother Michael in 1993.

Cathleen Anne Smith Frank, age 42 of West Belmar passed away on Friday August 29 surrounded by her entire family. 

The world will definitely be a much sadder place without her because Cathy was truly an angel right here on earth.  Anyone who was privileged to know her will attest to that fact.  She was always happy very friendly and in a good mood.  Cathy was the most sincere gentle, caring, giving, and loving lady God ever created.  Cathy could literally light up a room with her warmth and that oh so beautiful, beautiful smile.  Her loss is absolutely incalculable. Cathy was a trophy wife and a homemaker who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.  She enjoyed rafting and biking.  Cathy was a member of Wall United Methodist Church .  Born in Point Pleasant and lived in Spring Lake before moving to West Belmar 19 years ago.  Cathy would be so proud to know that through her death and her participation in the Sharing Network, she has provided someone very special to be able to have a better quality of life.

Cathy was predeceased by her mother Sharon in1971, her maternal grandmother Frankie D. Clayton in 1989 and her paternal grandmother Winifred J. Smith in 1999.  She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Steven Frank of West Belmar, three sons Justin Frank of Wilmington , NC , Brian Frank and Nickolas Frank both of Wall.  Cathy is also survived by her father Keith Smith of Wall, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Brian Smith of Neptune and Gary and Jeanne Smith of Wall; three sisters and three brothers-in-law Cynthia and Robert J. Kortenhaus of Howell, Lisa and Jerry Wyckoff of Tinton Falls and Laura and Hans Kerekes of Lenoir, NC; and several nieces and nephews Robert D. Jane G. Bossett, 82, of Brielle, died peacefully surrounded by her family in her home on Friday, August 29, 2008.  

Born in Lockport , NY , the daughter of the late Dr. D. Paul and Marie Gaugel, Jane moved to Brielle in 1950 and taught second grade in the Howell Township school system for 20 years.  She was a member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club and especially loved spending time in her garden with her beloved dog, Reuben.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Robert; her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Bobby Summers of Brielle; her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Maggie Bossett of Sea Girt; her grandchildren, Frankie and Kellen Helies of South Carolina, Nathan Bossett of San Fransisco, Evan and Amy Bossett of Howell, Julia Bossett and her fiancé Mike Gargano of Connecticut and her great-grandson Daniel Bossett.

Marie LaForte, age 82 of Bradley Beach passed away Sunday August 17 with her family by her side.  

Marie was born in Manhattan .  Marie lived in NYC for  75 years before moving to Bradley Beach in 2001.  She was a communicant of Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach.  Marie was a very religious woman.  She was deeply devoted to her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren and loved her friends. 

Marie was predeceased by her parents Vincenzo and Vincenza Pucciarelli and a son Joseph LaForte Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 65 years Joseph LaForte Sr of Bradley Beach, a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Nicholas Raimondi of Marlboro, and three grandchildren, Nicole Raimondi and Joseph Raimondi both of Marlboro and Joseph La Forte III of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Virginia Meeker Glasby, age 98 of Brielle passed away Saturday August 16 at Care One at Wall.  

Virginia was born in East Orange and raised in Orange. She summered on Shark River as a child at the home of her grandfather and then in Mantoloking when her father built a home there.  Virginia moved from Short Hills to Brielle in 1986.  She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Bay Head.  There she participated in the Altar Guild.  Virginia was also a member of the Bayberry Garden Club of Brielle.  She loved ocean swimming and walking the boardwalk and continued to do so into her 80’s.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband Frederick L. Glasby, her parents Herbert J. and Pearl Meeker and a sister Doris Meeker.  She is survived by a son Frederick L. Glasby, Jr. and his partner Clayton H. Richardson of Brielle, NJ.  

Burial will be private.  Arrangements are under the direction of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan.

Stella Wojton, age 88 of Manasquan, passed away Saturday, August 16th at home with her family close by her side. 

Born and raised in Elizabeth, where she lived for 68 years, Stella returned to school and earned her diploma all while caring for and nurturing her family. She was employed as Chief Clerk at Elizabeth City Hal! where she remained for almost 30 years. While living in Elizabeth, Stella was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and was President of their Rosary Attar Society. After moving to Manasquan in 1988, she became a communicant of St. Denis Church as well as a member of the St. Denis Seniors and the Senior Citizens of Manasquan. As an avid Jets fan, Stella proudly donned her green and white and eagerly cheered for her team. Although she loved her sports and trips to Atlantic City, her family was always her number one priority... especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stella was truly the matriarch of her family and became overwhelmed with joy and pride when everyone gathered together

Stella was predeceased by her husband of 57 years,, Walter "Whitey" Wojton, her brother Stanley Rogowski and her sister Mary Ann Rogowski. She is survived by her two daughters and her son-in-law, Jo Ann Korb and Frances and Robert Gorski; her sister, Ann Laskowski; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny and Paul Greenjack, Missy and Pete Snyder, Valerie and CJ McCourt and Douglas and Erika Korb; her four great grandchildren, Nicky, Mary, Anna and Stella; and her true lifelong friend, Stanley "Bura" Boruszkowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church in Spring Lake followed by the interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Linden

Margaret Carolyn Taylor (nee Peluso) age 70 passed away peacefully at her home Sunday August 10 with her family by her side.  

She was born in Neptune and raised in Asbury Park.  Margaret attended Mount Carmel School and graduated from Asbury Park High School.  He also attended Monmouth University and studied acting under Stella Ader.  Margaret traveled to England in 1964 where she met and married Michael J. Taylor in 1965.  They returned to the U.S. and settled in the shore area where they raised 2 children, Michael and Miranda.  Margaret retired from Fort Monmouth in 2005 where she was an administrative assist in the Department of Acquisitions.  Upon her retirement she settled in Sea Bright.  Margaret traveled extensively in these last years.  Margaret was a gifted actress and director who worked with Monmouth Players, Pinetree Players and co-founder of the Harlequin Players.  She was a talented artist, painting portraits and abstracts, and working in photography.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Columbia Peluso.  Margaret is survived by her husband Michael J. Taylor, a son and his wife Michael E and Grace Scarle-Taylor and a daughter Miranda Taylor and her fiancé Jeffrey Schroeck, and a brother Anthony Peluso. 

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmar on Friday August 15, at 11 am.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Hospice Program, Calvary Baptist Church of Belmar or a charity of your choice.

John J. O’Connell, age 93 of Lakewood passed away Sunday August 10 at Care One of Wall.  

John was and Army Air Force veteran of WWII and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  John worked for many years at the Foodarama in Freehold as an assistant personnel director.  He was an avid golfer who accomplished 2 holes in one.  The first was 150 yards and the second was 184yards.  John attended Brookdale Community College .  He was born in Jersey City .  John had very strong faith and he believed his strength came from his belief in God and religion.

John was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Dorothy in 1996 his parents John J. and Grace O’Connell, a sister Mary Hall and a grandson Daniel O’Connell.  He is survived by three children Richard and Marie O’Connell, Douglas and Cinthia O’Connell and Maureen and Carl Braun; six grandchildren Scott, Marissa O’Connell, Kristen and Marc Butler, Gage O’Connell, Marney and Dan Silva and Allyson and Rick Bembridge; four great grandchildren Kelsey and Erin Butler and Ryan and Jake Silva.

Franklin Cardinale, age 74 of Manasquan passed away Wednesday July 30 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center , Neptune .  

Mr. Cardinale was born in Newark and raised in Bloomfield before moving to the shore area.  Mr. Cardinale was a longtime resident of Spring Lake before moving to Manasquan.  He graduated from Seton Hall with a B.S.  Mr. Cardinale was an army veteran of the Korean War.  He was a Fuller Brush salesman before becoming an insurance agent for Allstate retiring after 30 years.  Mr. Cardinale was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a volunteer fireman of Spring Lake Heights .  He also was an umpire for Spring Lake Heights Little League, and a referee for Spring Lake Heights soccer program.  Upon his retirement, Mr. Cardinale ventured into owning several trotter race horses, which he enjoyed thoroughly.

He was predeceased by his first wife Dolores Cardinal in 1966.  He is survived by three sons Bill Cardinal of Shark River Hills, John Cardinal and his wife Viola of Point Pleasant, and Chris Cardinal of Hoboken; two daughters Cheryl Bois and her husband Scott of N.Y., N.Y. and Gayle Cardinal of North Brunswick; a brother Bill Cardinale of California; a granddaughter Katherine; also his former wives Ann Cardinal of Brielle and Arlene Cardinal of Toms River; nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Edith Josephine Kavanagh Rand, 71 of Brick, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25.  She entered the loving arms of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loving family.

Edith was born and raised in Rahway , NJ .  She was the daughter of Jack and Josephine Kavanagh, whom she dearly loved.  Jack and “Feeney” immigrated to this country from Buncrana and Burnfoot, County Donegal , Ireland .  Edith was married to Charles H. Rand with whom she had four children.  She was a woman of great faith who devoted her life to raising and loving her children.

She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Josephine Kavanagh.  Surviving are her son Charles Rand, Manasquan, and his wife, Susan; her daughter Tara Robinson, Manasquan, and her husband Christopher; her son James Rand, Jackson ; her son Mitchell Rand, Guilford , CT , and his wife, Carole.  Also surviving are her sister, Anna Cosgrove and her husband, Ed; her brother, Jack Kavanagh and his wife, Theresa; her sister, Patricia and her husband, Ron; Charles Rand and ten loving grandchildren.

Colin M. Baubles, age 21 of Wall passed away on June 6, 2008 Stafford County , VA.   

Colin was born in Point Pleasant and raised in Wall.  Colin was a graduate of Wall High School , and attended Brookdale Community College where he was on the dean’s list.  Colin planned on attending Rowan University in September to major in media arts.

Colin was predeceased by his father Peter W. Baubles, Jr.  Colin is survived by his mother and her husband Donna and David Fitzpatrick of Little Egg Harbor, two brothers Evan and Dylan of Little Egg Harbor, six sisters Jeanette of Spring Lake Heights, Kimberly of Hoboken, Alyssa of Belmar, Breanne, Emma and Lily of Little Egg Harbor; his maternal grandparents Paul and Carol Yuro of Brick.

Peter W. Baubles, Jr. age 64 of Wall passed away June 6 2008 in Stafford County , VA.   

Peter was a graduate of Livingston High School in 1961, and Montclair State College in 1967. Upon his graduation he was a teacher and coach for several years before becoming a small business owner in Monmouth County .  Peter was the owner and operator of Frank N Stein, Long Branch .  Besides his business Peter was active with his children with the local sports organizations.  

He was predeceased by his parents Peter Baubles, Sr. and Helen Frances Woolley Baubles and a son Colin Baubles.  He is survived by his children, two sons Evan and Dylan Baubles of Little Egg Harbor, three daughters Alyssa Baubles of Belmar, Kimberly Baubles of Hoboken and Jeanette Baubles of  Spring Lake Heights.  He is also survived by a brother Donald Baubles and his wife Ellen of Auburn, Alabama, and three nephews Flint , Joseph and Peter.

Robert J. Kochel, age 22 passed away Thursday July 17 at home.  Robert went to be with his maternal grandparents John and Betty Cobb.  

Robert was born in Red Bank and raised in Belmar.  He attended Belmar Elementary and graduated St. Rose High School , Belmar. He earned varsity letters in Lacrosse and Track while in St. Rose High School , as well as being the class president, a student ambassador, a founder of the Peer Leaders, and a member of the National Honor Society. Robert attended Boston College and was the president of the Snowboarding Club.

Robert was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Betty Cobb in 2001.  He is survived by his parents Kathleen and Robert Kochel of Wall, a brother Sean and two sisters Alissa and Emma.  Robert is also survived by his paternal grandmother Sara and her husband George Laird of Toms River and his paternal grandfather Robert E. Kochel and his wife Kibbie of Reno, Nevada; two uncles and four aunts John and Kathy Cobb of Howell, Kevin and Lorrie Kochel of Jackson, Lindel Woodward and Chrystel Carnahan both of Reno, Nevada; several great aunts, great uncles and cousins and many close friends especially Rachel, Sam, Lindsey, Mike, Rob, James, Sean and Chris.

John “Jack” H. Allen, age 79 of Brick passed away Friday July 11 at Neptune Rehabilitation and Care Center , Neptune.  

Jack was born in Passaic and raised in Nutley .  He was an army veteran during the Korean Conflict.  Upon his return from service Jack and his wife of 55 years Carmen Santana Allen resided in Newark before moving to the shore area.  Jack lived in Spring Lake Heights and Manasquan before moving to Brick in 1991.  He graduated from Farleigh Dickerson University with a BS in Business Administration and Economics.  Jack was the past president of Spring Lake Heights Little League, and life member of Spring Lake Heights Fire Company #1.  He was an insurance agent with the Fireman’s Fund Insurance, and other various insurance companies during his career in insurance sales.  He also worked for Air Cruisers, Wall, as the manager of the OSHA program.

Jack is survived by his wife Carmen Allen of Brick, two sons and two daughters-in-law, John and Cathy Allen of East Brunswick, Ron and Patti Allen of Freehold Township , a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Robert Freeman of Wall.  Jack is also survived by seven grandchildren Meredith, Lindsay, Kevin, Christopher, Ryan, Jake and Michael.

Steven Zakutney, age 43 of Wall passed away Tuesday, July 1 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center , Neptune .  

Steven was born and raised in Phillipsburg , PA.   He moved to New Jersey in 1991.  Steven was a graduate of Penn State University , State College PA.  He worked at Penn State University in the food service department for three years.  Steven was the food purchaser for Rutgers University for 17 years.  He was a coach for Neptune Little League Softball and Baseball, a coach for the Wall Mako Travel Baseball Team, an avid fisherman and a member of the Shark River Surf Anglers.

Steven is survived by his wife Christine Shebell Zakutney of Wall, two daughters Dana and Emma and a stepson Matthew Ford all of Wall.  He is survived by his parents John and Carol (nee Visnofsky) Zakutney of Phillipsburg a sister Stephanie Showers of Phillipsburg and two nieces, Abby and Angela and a nephew Ryan.

Harry R. Firth, Sr., age 64 of Wall passed away July 1 at Jersey Shore University Hospital , Neptune .  

Harry was born in Syracuse , NY and raised in Jersey City .  He lived in Wayne for 37 years with his family before moving to Point Pleasant in 2001.  Harry and his wife of 44 years Lois moved to Wall in 2006.  Harry was a Navy veteran.  He was employed as a driver for the United Postal Service working at the Hamilton , NJ post office.   Harry enjoyed to go boating and fishing, trips to Atlantic City , watching baseball and traveling especially on cruises.  Harry’s real love of his life was his family.

He is survived by his wife Lois Messadi Firth of Wall, a son and daughter-in-law Harry and Lori Firth of Wall and a daughter and son-in-law Monique and Adam Bellofatto of Wall; three grandchildren Michael, Ashley and Breann.  Harry is also survived by his loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Stanley R. “Bob” Eckert, 76 of Toms River entered into eternal life on Friday June 26 while visiting family in Florida .  

Bob grew up in Belmar and lived most of his life in Wall Township .  He attended Manasquan High School , served in the United States Navy and worked for Lincoln Transit in Lakewood for many years.  He then worked for Harris Brothers Construction in Wall Township .  Bob was a life member of the American Legion and the Forresters of America.  He was a member of CrossPoint Baptist Church in Farmingdale.

He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann and a son Edward Michael.  He is survived by three children a son Robert and his wife Kris of Brick, a daughter Grace McCabe and her husband Richard of Clermont, FL, and a son William and his wife Janet of Wall; five brothers Joseph and his wife Judy of Brick, Gene and his wife Sheila of Whiting, Louis and his wife Leslie of Tinton Falls, Forrest and his wife Cathy of Ocala, FL, and Steve Bennett and his wife Barb of Sunbury, PA.  Bob is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael Eckert and his companion Lauren Carr, Dennis McCabe, Kelly Switzer and her husband Noel, Deana McCabe, Robert and Travis Eckert.  A very close companion, Joan Jones and her large family; four great-grandchildren, Bryleigh, Kaedyn and Ryder Eckert and Maggie Switzer and best friend Al Mandell.

George R. Norcross, Sr. age 77 of Brick passed away Tuesday June 24 at Ocean Medical Center , Brick, with his family by his side.  

George was born in Neptune City and was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake Heights until 2006 when he and his wife Margaret moved to Brick.  George retired from the Borough of Spring Lake Heights where he was employed for over 20 years in the public works department.  He was an army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  George was a member of Wall United Methodist Church and an active member of the Spring Lake Heights Fire Department for 36 years.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife sitting on the porch of his house and trips to Wildwood, NJ.  Through all of his illness it was his grandchildren who inspired him to keep going.

George was predeceased by his parents, Robert John Norcross and Myrtle Gifford Norcross, two brothers Robert J. and Frank Norcross, a sister Merle Greene and a great granddaughter Alysha Grace Griner.  He survived by his wife of 47 years Margaret Dunfee Norcross of Brick, a son and daughter-in-law, George R. Nrocross, Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Barnegat, three daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Ray Lofmark of Whiting, Rhonda and Jim Jobes of Brick and Wendy and Larry Husted of South Toms River and a sister Maryland Lang of Florida.  He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Kim, Jody, Jimmy, Jamie, Jason and Larry; 9 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

Deserie L. Castino, age 34 of Point Pleasant Boro passed away Wednesday June 18 at her home.  

Deserie was a waitress for many years in various restaurants’ in the shore area.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Point Pleasant .  Deserie enjoyed going to concerts, the beach and motorcycle riding.  She was born in Point Pleasant Hospital, lived in Brick before moving to Point Pleasant 20 years ago.

Deserie was predeceased by her father Alfred “Charlie” Castino in 1995.  She is survived by a son Brandon Nikola Jr. of Point Pleasant, her mother Marian Castino of Millsboro, DE, her maternal grandmother Hilda Verdura of Brick, four brothers, Chuck and Tracy Castino of Point Pleasant Boro, Denis and Loretta Gullo of Lanoka Harbor, NJ, Brian Arthur of Millsboro, DE and Joe Gullo of Sayreville, NJ.  Deserie is also survived by 1 niece Olivia Castino, and 4 nephews Joseph Carbone, CJ Castino, Brian Arthur and Chuckie Arthur.

Enriquetta Otrante, age 101 of Allenwood formerly of Union City passed away Monday June 2, at Monmouth County Care Center.  

Enriquetta was born in Guadeloupe and lived in Havana Cuba before moving to New Jersey.  She worked in the Tootsie Roll factory in Hoboken. 

Henrietta was predeceased by her husband Charles Edourd Lambert, a daughter Yvette Juliana and a sister Mirella.  She is survived by a sister Delia McCook and her family of Cuba, three grandchildren Lourdes and Karl Lauber of Manasquan, Michael and Chrystal Lozano of Walden NY and Alberto and Shannon Lozano of&
